The Sugar flowers cake decorating and baking camp is suitable for kids 10 years of age and older. Calling all cake decorating and art enthusiasts! Cake decorating and baking is a wonderful way to practice and apply a knowledge of mathematics, science, art and nutrition all in one place.

This camp is a great introduction to baking a cake and making sugar flowers which will be used to decorate the cake. Our programmes are taught by enthusiastic cake decorating and baking professionals.

What our programme for the week looks like:

Monday: Filler Flowers – on your first day of camp you will learn how to work with gumpaste, we call this cake decorators clay.  You will also learn about the different tools that we use for making sugar flowers.

Tuesday: Sugar flowers – Rose and Leaves. Roses are the most important flowers to learn in cake decorating because they are so popular, but also beautiful.

Wednesday:  You will learn how to make Jeanette’s signature vanilla and chocolate cake. This is the cake that we use for our custom cake in our bakery.

Thursday: Kids will learn how to make a buttercream that is light and fluffy and oh so delicious. We will also teach our students how to cut their cakes in layers (this is called torting) and filling the cakes with buttercream and a surprise filling.

Friday:  On our last day we give the cake a final buttercream coating and smooth out imperfections. To decorate the cake our young students will make a beautiful floral arrangement with the flowers they have been working on earlier on in the week. The kids will take their cakes home in a cake box.

Please bring an apron, water-bottle, indoor and outdoor shoes and a nut free snack. No experience or equipment is needed.

Earlier drop off is available free of charge – just bring something to do while you wait.
