Piping & Baking: 17 – 21 August 2020

17 August 2020 9:00 – 3:00

Join us for our “piping and baking camp” where learning is fun and delicious!  This will be the 12th year that we are teaching the piping and baking class and it always sells out. This is a popular class because we teach essential baking and decorating skills. We are 100% focused on cake decorating and baking and we want your kids to experience what it is like to have an authentic baking and cake decorating experience. Our studio is a dedicated teaching facility and we use professional tools and equipment. Our camps are hosted by experienced pâtissiers who are passionate about sharing their knowledge and experience.  This Camp is designed for children 10 years of age and older. Children will be working in groups of two on some tasks and must be able to follow direction independently.

What our week looks like:

Monday: Learn how to make royal icing. Gain an understanding of the tools and equipment that will be used during the class. Practice piping borders, scrolls and beads with royal icing

Tuesday:  Flowers are an essential part of cake designs and we will be teaching our participants how to make piped roses, daisies, and so much more

Wednesday: A good cake starts by understanding the function of your ingredients. Cakes often fail because the ingredients are not mixed in the correct way, we will be baking two different types of cakes to demonstrate different mixing techniques that are commonly used in preparing a cake batter. As a bonus participants will receive our secret recipes

Thursday:  Learn one of the most important tasks in cake decorating; stacking, assembling and masking a cake.  We will also teach you  how to make a light and fluffy buttercream that is so easy to make, but most people fail at it.

Friday: On the last day we will decorate our cakes using the skills that were taught earlier on in the week. This is when everything comes together and we love the look of pride on our students faces when their parents show their astonishment at what they have achieved.

Campers will take their cakes home on Friday to share with their family and friends.
