Summer baking camp

Our camps are a great place to experience the excitement of baking and creating baked goods without artificial ingredients and preservatives. Because we make everything from scratch, kids must be old enough to follow instructions independently. Therefore, our camps are suitable for children age 10 and up.

For this particular session patience is a must and students must be able to stay focused for a couple of hours. We will be making a set design. We understand that some kids would like to put their own creativity at work, but before this can be done one must learn correct techniques and skills. Therefore everyone will be making the same design. Once students have mastered the techniques taught in this class they can put to task their newly acquired skills at home and make many more beautiful and delicious cookies.

During this camp session we will be focusing on baking sugar cookies that are suitable for decorating with royal icing, making royal icing for piping and flooding your cookies, the correct consistency for piping and flooding cookies and how to store your cookies. We teach the same skills and techniques taught in our adult classes but at a fraction of the cost. This introductory lesson is essential for every aspiring cookie artist. Once you know the basics this class can set you up for hours and hours of cookie decorating fun.

What our week looks like:

Monday: Cut out our templates and make the sugar cookie dough.

Tuesday: Bake sugar cookies

Wednesday: Making royal icing, learn how to mix and prepare your icing, royal icing runouts, start decorating some cookies

Thursday: Continue decorating cookies.

Friday: Finish decorating and packaging cookies

Bring an apron, water bottle and snack to class. Always tie your hair up when working with food.
